About Umicore Battery Materials in Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

 

What you will be doing

For this new site, we are looking for a Site P & O (Human Resources)  Coach reporting to the Site P&O Lead. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the site P&O lead in the execution and engagement of a variety of site related HR topics within the scope of the Loyalist site. The site P&O coach will support the analysis, handling and taking initiatives on (complex) employee questions and/or problems. The site P&O coach will advise and/or direct employees in this respect and provide support with the aim of helping to achieve  optimal support, while ensuring compliance with process and policy within the site.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the site P&O lead with providing input on the execution of local P&O initiatives and implementation of P&O programs in the site to share with the Heads of P&O and P&O Business  Partners when needed
  • Gather requirements to help with the development of P&O programs, processes, and policies for a specific business unit based on business needs
  • Assist the site P&O lead with identifying, refining and documenting P&O needs and requests, when required
  • Contribute to gathering, consolidation and providing input on local skills and talent needs to the Site Lead
  • Offer support and preparation to the site P&O lead to advise CoEs, P&O Operations and Business Unit  leaders and with escalating issues to P&O Business Partners or P&O leadership team as appropriate
  • Act as an advocate for P&O services within the new P&O operating model collaborating with P&O Operations and COEs especially during the transition into the new model
  • Be an agent for change management support and engagement for managers toward their teams
  • Work as a trouble shooter, finding solutions and debugging issues raised toward P&O topics and services
  • Manage employee concerns and queries
  • Support in the site-level employee communication

 

Who we are looking for

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources
  • 3+ years of experience in an HR role
  • Working knowledge of HR policies, practices, and procedures and systems
  • Ability to deliver high quality customer service consistently in a professional manner
  • Adaptable to different customer types and situations
  • Experience in conflict and issue resolution
  • Extensive stakeholder and conflict management capabilities
  • Mature, reliable and people oriented team player
  • Strong listening, convincing and communication skills and an approachable attitude
  • Ability to cope with confidential information
  • Analytical capacity and solution oriented mindset
